An-9RR is a fresh robotic pair that has just been released by Japanese electronics/security company, ALSOK. The pair comprises of a mother bot and a kid bot, which is to work as a receptionist as well as keeping an eye on bystanders.

The mother robot is equipped with a camera and several sensors, weighs 35kg and its specialty is capable of recognizing visitor’s face or voice. And it’s able to take reservation, greet people and say goodbye. It’s the best receptionist to be used at any entrance counter to keep record of people coming into the buildings. The mother bot is holding a touchscreen display in her hands, which allows visitors to find out more information about the building before entering, or to contact people inside.

The kid robot is holding a security camera, that shall be taking snapshots of bystanders, to keep a record of everyone passes by. The kid bot weighs just 1.5 kg and is portable. But it’s meant for security purpose only.

Anyway, this robotic pair is super expensive which will cost $30,000 or can be leased in for $700 a month over a 4-year period. The pair may be worth to have to replace man power cost for long term.

Axxana Phoenix SSD disk array is fire, water, shock and terror-proof

If your data live in an highly dangerous environment that is exposed to lots of threats including fire, flood and shocks like earthquake, you will need to consider very serious protection for your data.

The Axxana Phoenix System is specially designed for a such a worst-case-scenario. It is an indestructible Black Box solid-state disk array and the box can withstand shocks up to 40 G’s and 5,000 pounds of pressure. And it also can stand the burn of fire with a temperature of 2,000 degrees (F) for 1 hour, or 450 F for up to 6 hours, and even submerged underwater for up to 30 feet. Some more it’s safe from terrors.

I’m not sure who will work or live in such a worst environment that would likely to have your data exposed to all these life-threatening disasters. Note: This Axxana Phoenix black box is also equipped with WiFi and 3G connectivity which allows the users to remotely access the data.

In the case which you may need to leave your data to live in disastrous area, while you live in safer area then you will need this serious protection for the precious data. The price is not known yet. But I think it should be pretty expensive. Those who need such a serious protection shouldn’t care too much about the price.

USB flash drive with built-in OLED screen and biometric fingerprint scanner

USB flash drives need more effort on the security for the data stored on them. As USB flash drives have storage capacity as big as 64GB, many users will use flash drives as their primary storage to store their important data and bring along anywhere they go.

The portability of USB flash drives will normally be an issue, which leads to users to forget or misplace their drives, and eventually leads to important data fall into the hands of their rivals. This may jeopardize your career or any business opportunity.
Ennova Direct Corporation (DBA ION Technologies) has introduced a new USB flash drive that comes with a built-in OLED display. This little OLED display on the flash drive is meant for additional security, where it has a built-in biometric fingerprint scanner that needs users to authenticate via it before being able to access the data on the drive.

The user needs to swipe the finger across the sensor, and the OLED screen will change color depending on if it was successful or not. The OLED display of this flash drive also provides an interactive interface which allows the users to select files and functions from the drive itself.

Another plus is this USB flash drive features a retractable USB connector, where there is an integrated cover, when closed protects the USB connector and the biometric fingerprint scanner at the same time.
